New Ulm Hosts Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities Summer Conference

The City of New Ulm was proud to host the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities (CGMC) Summer Conference, welcoming city leaders and elected officials from communities across the state. The conference provided an excellent opportunity to showcase everything that makes New Ulm a great place to live, work, and visit.

During the conference, the City of New Ulm was honored to receive the Excellence in Service Award, recognizing the dedication of our city staff and elected officials in advocating at the State Capitol for critical issues affecting Greater Minnesota. Their efforts have helped advance priorities such as lead service line replacement, water infrastructure investments, and expanding housing opportunities.

New Ulm continues to make significant progress in addressing local housing needs by embracing innovative approaches and supporting a wider variety of housing options. By being willing to explore new ideas—including tiny homes and barndominiums—the city is creating more opportunities for residents while planning for future growth.

Conference attendees also had the chance to experience New Ulm’s unique history, culture, and hospitality. Highlights included:

  • A tour of Schell’s Brewery, complete with a cannon demonstration by the New Ulm Battery.
  • An evening in downtown New Ulm featuring a stop at Sweet Haven Tonics and its outdoor parklet.
  • A traditional German dinner provided by Turner Hall.
  • A visit to the iconic Hermann Monument.

We were honored to welcome our guests and share the people, places, and community spirit that make New Ulm such a special place.
